RocketCopy - Privacy Policy
SHORT VERSION
RocketCopy is a Windows desktop utility. It has no analytics, no telemetry, no advertising and no user accounts. Your files never leave your computer. The only data the application may send over the internet is your license key, transmitted to its licensing provider solely to check that the key is valid (see section 2e). Nothing else is ever transmitted.
1. WHO IS RESPONSIBLE
The Author of RocketCopy ("we", "us") is the data controller for the limited information described in section 3. Contact: rocketcopy26@outlook.com.
2. INFORMATION HANDLED BY THE APPLICATION (all of it stays on your machine)
- Files and folders you select: they are copied locally. The paths you select, the copy engine used and any error messages are written to a local log file (rocketcopy_en_log.txt) stored next to the executable. You may delete that file at any time. It is never uploaded.
- Settings: engine choice, thread count and memory-image size are stored in rocketcopy.ini next to the executable.
- Hardware fingerprint (HWID): a truncated SHA-256 hash of your system volume serial number, computer name and processor identifier. It is computed locally and stored locally in %APPDATA%\RocketCopy\license.dat together with the install timestamp and, once activated, your Registration Code. The HWID is not transmitted, except as part of a license activation or validation request (section 2e).
- The application does not read the content of the files you copy beyond what is required to copy them, and it never transmits file contents.
- License validation: if you activate the Software with a licence key issued by our licensing provider, the application contacts that provider's server to activate and periodically validate the key. Such a request contains only the license key and an anonymous instance identifier. It contains no personal data, no file names, no file contents and no information about the files or folders you copy.
- Trial and anti-abuse state: the 30-day trial start time and an anti-tamper marker are also stored in local Windows registry entries under HKCU\Software\RocketCopy and in a hidden, system-attributed file in %APPDATA%\RocketCopy. This redundant local storage is used only to enforce the trial period and to detect tampering with the trial clock; none of it is transmitted.
3. INFORMATION THE AUTHOR RECEIVES (only if you contact us or buy)
- Registration Code requests: if you ask for a code you send us your HWID (and usually your order reference). The HWID is used only to generate and re-issue your code, and is retained as part of the order record.
- Purchases: payment is processed by our Merchant of Record / payment provider (for example Paddle or Lemon Squeezy). They collect the data needed to take payment and to remit taxes - name, email address, country, payment details and IP address - under their own privacy policies. We receive the order details (email, country, product, amount, taxes) but not your full card number.
- Support correspondence: anything you choose to email us.
4. LEGAL BASES (EEA / UK users)
Performance of a contract (delivering the license and activating it); compliance with legal obligations (tax and accounting retention); and our legitimate interest in preventing unlicensed distribution of the Software (license verification). We do not carry out profiling or automated decision-making.
5. RETENTION
Order and invoice records are kept for the period required by tax and accounting law (commonly 5-10 years, depending on the jurisdiction). Support correspondence is kept as long as needed to handle and follow up the request. Local log files remain until you delete them.
6. SHARING
We do not sell personal data. Data is shared only with the payment provider (and its banking/tax partners) as necessary to process the order, and with professional advisers or public authorities where legally required.
7. INTERNATIONAL TRANSFERS
Order data may be processed outside your country by the payment provider. They rely on standard contractual clauses or other lawful transfer mechanisms for such transfers.
8. YOUR RIGHTS
Depending on where you live you may have the right to access, correct, delete or port your personal data, to restrict or object to processing, and to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority. To exercise any of these rights, email rocketcopy26@outlook.com. Because the product needs no account, we can normally satisfy a request from the order email address alone.
9. CHILDREN
RocketCopy is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children.
10. SECURITY
No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure. We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the order records we hold.
11. CHANGES
If we make a material change to this policy we will update it and change the effective date above.
